Questions we get often
Is the rated strength the working load
No. It is the minimum value at which the loop fails in a tensile test at room temperature. In service you stay well below it: temperature, ageing and sharp edges on the bundle all reduce that figure. If the tie has to carry a load and not just hold cables together, tell us how much.
Are they suitable outdoors
Unstabilised PA 6.6 exposed to UV yellows and loses toughness over time. Outdoors the black version is normally used, because the black pigment screens the radiation. If the application is outdoors, tell us the expected exposure and we will confirm the version and the pigment.
Can a fixed tie be reopened
No, it gets cut and replaced. If you expect to reopen the bundle, take the releasable ones: the tab disengages the pawl and the tie is usable again. It costs you strength, roughly a third at the same width, but it saves you the cut.
